#NZLOCKDOWNSTORIES
The outbreak of coronavirus was first identified in December 2019. The World Health Organization declared the outbreak a Public Health Emergency of International Concern on 30 January, and a pandemic on 11 March.
In the mid of March, the prime minister, Jacinda Ardern, announced that NZ was going to rapidly escalating levels of physical distancing and travel restrictions, reaching the level of a full national lockdown on 26 March (level four on the alert scale). For a result of the national lockdown, New Zealand became the first to get a good look at life after COVID-19.
During the four weeks of lockdown: 26 Mar-26 Apr, I have archived how New Zealanders are spending their time at their home into my perspective. Three works each week, a total of 21 archived drawings. By using Instagram hashtag #NZLOCKDOWN, I collected a number of posts that people in NZ have posted about their daily life during the lockdown and turned them into drawings on my iPad with blue colour how their lives, neighbourhoods, cities have transformed under social distancing and stay-home orders around the country. I have archived them into the website.
[COLOUR]
Colour means many different things to different people and cultures. It also represents feelings, people, countries, and colour symbolism. When we say 'feel blue', it means depressed or sad. During the pandemic, many people have died due to the virus, and I feel that the colour blue can be a symbolic meaning for this period.
